“In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.”
Isaiah 6:1 KJV
Isaiah clearly saw the Lord in the year that King Uzziah died. Adonai was seated on His exalted throne, towering high above Isaiah. Adonai’s long, flowing robe of splendour spread throughout the temple. The prophet Isaiah realised that God would judge even a king when he sinned, since he was a leper. Isaiah saw the holiness of God in this judgment and knew that if his uncle the king was judged, he would be too. Long before Jesus was born, Isaiah saw His glory and how He would take God’s judgment on Himself for the sin of mankind, and his eyes were opened to see God as He really is. The very robe of God’s glory has through the Cross, touched us in Christ, for we are His temple. When we put on Christ we are robed in His splendour before God and His angels. Let’s put on the Lord Jesus Christ every day! Glory to God!
