“For we are consumed by thine anger, And by thy wrath are we troubled. Who knoweth the power of thine anger? Even according to thy fear, so is thy wrath.”
Psalm 90:7, 11 KJV
This is a psalm of Moses, the prophet of God, “Terrified by your anger, confined beneath the curse, we live our lives knowing your wrath. Lord, who fully knows the power of your passion and the intensity of your emotions?” Moses interceded for the children of Israel who through disobedience had become prey to curses and God’s wrath. Jesus has come and broken the curse and lifted the unbearable burden of our sins as the rage and wrath of God fell upon Him on the Cross. Yet Jesus was the One Who carried our sicknesses and endured the torment of our sufferings. We viewed Him as One Who was being punished for something He Himself had done, as One Who was struck down by God and brought low. But it was because of our rebellious deeds that He was pierced and because of our sins that He was crushed. He endured the punishment that made us completely whole, and in His wounding we found our healing. Paul said it clearly, “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.” Hallelujah!
