“This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, And saved him out of all his troubles.”
Psalm 34:6 KJV
David wrote this psalm at perhaps the lowest time of his life. “When I had nothing, desperate and defeated, I cried out to the Lord and He heard me, bringing His miracle-deliverance when I needed it most.” David was alone, just having parted from his dearest friend Jonathan; being chased by king Saul and his paid assassins; running and hiding in the cave of Adullam. Yet the beautiful sounds of praise were heard echoing in the cavern. We learn this lesson even for our situations today - that we praise our way out of our difficulties into God’s light. That is what Paul taught in his epistle to the Philippian church, speaking by the Holy Spirit, “Keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honorable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful and kind. And fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God, praising Him always.” Let’s learn this lesson well, to not take offence and go into isolation, but to praise our way out of difficulties. Amen!
