“Behold, when we come into the land, thou shalt bind this line of scarlet thread in the window which thou didst let us down by: and thou shalt bring thy father, and thy mother, and thy brethren, and all thy father's household, home unto thee.”
Joshua 2:18 KJV
The two Israelites who had gone to checkout Jericho, told Rahab, who was an innkeeper as well as a prostitute, that when their invasion begins, to bring all her family together in her house - her father and mother, her brothers and sisters and all their families. They told Rahab to tie this crimson rope in the same window through which she let them down. This crimson rope can be seen in the light of the New Testament as an emblem of the Blood of Jesus. Faith in Christ’s Blood brings us salvation. Rahab experienced a personal “Passover” because of the blood (crimson) applied to her house. Both Passover blood and the crimson rope were described in Hebrew as “a sign”. For even Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us! To God be all the glory!
