“Now when the copy of king Artaxerxes' letter was read before Rehum, and Shimshai the scribe, and their companions, they went up in haste to Jerusalem unto the Jews, and made them to cease by force and power.”
Ezra 4:23 KJV
The letter of King Artaxerxes was read to Rehum and Shimshai the secretary and their associates. They lost no time. They went to the Jews in Jerusalem and made them quit work. From the beginning the devil has opposed the work of God. When God called the Jews to rebuild the Temple and Jerusalem, the opposing order worked by the devil, was given. Every work of God is fiercely opposed by the devil. The children of Israel were scattered all across the earth but God said that they will come back and now Israel is a nation. Jerusalem was fought by the enemies of Israel but now Jerusalem is the capital of Israel. The temple that was destroyed will now be rebuilt for the third time how much ever the devil opposes it. Whatever God has said in His Word comes to pass. The good news is that the reason the Son of God was revealed was to undo and destroy the works of the devil. Because with sin, which is opposing God’s righteousness, came death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord and through His sacrifice as the Lamb of God, the sin of the world is taken away, and we are made righteous by grace through faith. Amen!
