“And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it.”
Genesis 28:12 KJV
Jacob had a dream of a stairway securely fixed on the earth and reaching into heaven. In his dream, messengers of God were ascending and descending on the stairway. The steps of this stairway go up into the heavenly realm where our true riches are found. Each step is a progressive revelation of God’s purpose for our lives found in Jesus Christ. The stairway goes both ways, touching heaven and touching earth. Jesus Christ is the Stairway that reaches earth (His human nature) to heaven (His heavenly nature). Jesus spoke to Nathaniel about this. Jesus is the only valid entry into the spirit realm, the true way into the heavenly realm. The intercessors and promise-claimers prayers are taken by the angels up, and we ascend in the spirit up the Stairway. We are in Christ and God has raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: that in the ages to come He might shew the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
