“Thou hast put gladness in my heart, More than in the time that their corn and their wine increased. I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: For thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.”
Psalm 4:7-8 KJV
David sang, “The intense pleasure You give me surpasses the gladness of harvest time, even more than when the harvesters gaze upon their ripened grain and when their new wine overflows. Now, because of You, Lord, I will lie down in peace and sleep comes at once, for no matter what happens, I will live unafraid!” This is the heart peace David experienced as he related to God. Much greater intimacy God has granted us who believe in the magnificent victory of the Cross of Christ whereby we have been made righteous because He became sin. Now the mighty power of the Holy Spirit is in us and we have become the temple of the Spirit of God. So we have gladness and the rest that gives us peaceful sleep, come what may. It is through intimate relationship with Almighty God that we can declare like David did that God makes us happy and by meditating on the Cross on our bed at night, we get peaceful sleep. Amen!
