“To him who alone doeth great wonders: For his mercy endureth for ever. To him that by wisdom made the heavens: For his mercy endureth for ever.”
Psalm 136:4-5 KJV
This psalm is traditionally attributed to king David and was sung at the dedication of Solomon’s temple and also by the armies of king Jehoshaphat. “Give thanks to the only miracle-working God! His tender love for us continues on forever! Give thanks to the Creator Who made the heavens with wisdom! His tender love for us continues on forever!” It tells of our God of mercy and wisdom. Job prophesied the secrets of the two sides of God’s sound wisdom found in His mercy and justice in creation. It was made visible in the new creation when Christ died in the flesh and rose again - victorious over sin and death. The secret is of God’s wisdom found in His mercy and justice by becoming sin for humanity and giving us His righteousness in exchange, reconciling us to the holy God Who is our Father. What mercy! What grace! But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. Let’s give thanks to our miracle working Creator God Who in His mercy, wisdom and justice, erases our sin to make us a new creation in Christ. Thank You, Jesus!
