“For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk?”
Matthew 9:5 KJV
Jesus perceived what the religious scholars were saying in their hearts, so He addressed them, “Which is easier to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or, ‘Stand up and walk!’?” It is easy for anyone to say, “Your sins are forgiven”, for that cannot be proven. But if someone were to tell a paralysed man to stand up, and he didn’t stand up, that would prove the person is a fraud. Jesus didn’t do the “easy thing” without accomplishing the hard thing, the miracle of healing. Forgiveness and healing both flow from Jesus Christ. Isaiah had already prophesied of when the Christ shall come, “They shall see the glory of the Lord, the excellency of our God. Strengthen the weak hands, and make firm the feeble knees. Say to those who are fearful-hearted, “Be strong, do not fear! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, With the recompense of God; He will come and save you.” Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, And the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. Then the lame shall leap like a deer, And the tongue of the dumb sing.” All those who have Christ in them will do the same as Jesus did. Hallelujah!
