Commit Your Way to God & Trust Him

“Then the king said unto me, For what dost thou make request? So I prayed to the God of heaven. And I said unto the king, If it please the king, and if thy servant have found favour in thy sight, that thou wouldest send me unto Judah, unto the city of my fathers' sepulchres, that I may build it.”

‭‭Nehemiah‬ ‭2‬:‭4‬-‭5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The king then asked me, “So what do you want?” Praying under my breath to the God-of-Heaven, I said, “If it please the king, and if the king thinks well of me, send me to Judah, to the city where my family is buried, so that I can rebuild it.”  Nehemiah was in a place of influence with king Artaxerxes but yet he prayed to the LORD God Almighty for wisdom to place his request before the king.  Nehemiah was diligent being a cupbearer to the king so he had the king’s ear.  When Nehemiah prayed to God, the king's heart became like a stream of water directed by the Lord. Artaxerxes gave favour to Nehemiah’s request.  Even the thoughts and decisions of kings are influenced by God.  God directs the hearts of rulers according to His divine purposes, reminding us that earthly power is not autonomous. All things are of God, Who has reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ, and given us the ministry of reconciliation; to also pray for kings or anyone in high places.  Let’s pray for those in authority over our nation as the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Amen!
