“Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them.”

In fact, when people knew Peter was going to walk by, they carried the sick out to the streets and laid them down on cots and mats, knowing the incredible power emanating from him would overshadow them and heal them. The overshadowing of the sick to be healed was the power of the Holy Spirit that came upon Mary when she conceived Jesus in her womb. This overshadowing was also the cloud on Jesus when He was on the Mount of Transfiguration. This wasn’t a natural shadow created by the light of the sun, but the supernatural overshadowing of God’s power coming upon the sick to bring healing. A while back Peter had denied Christ but when he repented and turned back to Jesus, he experienced forgiveness and God’s power overshadowed him to heal the sick - what grace! How much God loves mankind that He desires to heal us through the sacrifice of His Son Jesus - Grace personified! May we believe and follow Christ and as His disciples, be overshadowed with His power to bring healing to others. Amen!
