“and Maaseiah, and Shemaiah, and Eleazar, and Uzzi, and Jehohanan, and Malchijah, and Elam, and Ezer. And the singers sang loud, with Jezrahiah their overseer. Also that day they offered great sacrifices, and rejoiced: for God had made them rejoice with great joy: the wives also and the children rejoiced: so that the joy of Jerusalem was heard even afar off.”

Also Maaseiah, Shemaiah, Eleazar, Uzzi, Jehohanan, Malkijah, Elam, and Ezer - the singers, directed by Jezrahiah, made the rafters ring. That day they offered great sacrifices, an exuberant celebration because God had filled them with great joy. The women and children raised their happy voices with all the rest. Jerusalem’s jubilation was heard far and wide. The Jews were so happy that they’d returned to Jerusalem and had joy in celebrating as loud as they could! Celebration and joy is the portion of everyone who has a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. It was with joy that He endured the Cross, despising the shame, to bring you and me into righteousness. That’s why He said to be cheerful with joyous celebration in every season of life. Let your joy overflow! There’s every reason to rejoice because our names are written in the Book of Life. Hallelujah!
