“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”
Acts 2:38 KJV
Peter replied, “Repent and return to God, and each one of you must be baptized in the name of Jesus, the Anointed One, to have your sins removed. Then you may take hold of the gift of the Holy Spirit.” Repent means both “to change your mind and direction of your life” and “to turn back to God”. Peter spoke these words from the steps of the temple and below him were immersion pools used by Jewish worshippers for ceremonial cleansing. Peter was pointing them to the cleansing that comes through the Name and authority of Jesus Christ when he said, “Be immersed in the Name of Lord YHWH Y’shua”. Peter clearly states that YHWH and Jesus are One and the Same. It was the Holy Spirit Who spoke through Peter and the fruit of Peter’s anointed preaching was that three thousand believed and were saved. Today we, the Church must grasp the anointing that comes through the power of the Holy Spirit as we preach, and may many be added to the Kingdom of God. Amen!
