“If a man on the sabbath day receive circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken; are ye angry at me, because I have made a man every whit whole on the sabbath day? Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.”
John 7:23-24 KJV
Jesus answers, “So if you cut away part of a man on the Sabbath and that doesn’t break the Jewish law, why then would you be indignant with me for making a man completely healed on the Sabbath? Stop judging based on the superficial. First you must embrace the standards of mercy and truth.” Jesus is saying, “Who are you to judge Me when you don’t practice what you preach?” Never judge as a hypocrite wearing a mask. Jesus teaches that the law of mercy (healing the lame man) overrides the laws of Moses (regulations of the Sabbath). Seeing situations and people with the lens of mercy gives us true discernment. Let’s not judge outwardly but with true discernment show mercy because mercy always triumphs over judgment. Amen!
