“And they came near unto him, and said, We will build sheepfolds here for our cattle, and cities for our little ones: but we ourselves will go ready armed before the children of Israel, until we have brought them unto their place: and our little ones shall dwell in the fenced cities because of the inhabitants of the land.”
Numbers 32:16-17 KJV
When the Reubenites and Gadites saw the good pasture land, they claimed it as their property and wanted to settle there without even crossing the Jordan. Moses sharply rebuked them, “Shall your brethren go to war while you sit here? Now why will you discourage the heart of the children of Israel from going into the land which the LORD has given them?” Discouragement brings dispossession. It is a clarion call to those who enjoy their life in Christ to seek the Lord on behalf of the persecuted Church. Dare to find in the promises of God’s Word, and claim the best for those being dispossessed. Let’s not deprive them of the best, when we are enjoying peace and rest, because of unbelief and self-centredness, it’s sin in God’s eyes. Let’s declare our victorious war on principalities, on powers, on the rulers of the darkness of this world, on spiritual wickedness in high places, because Jesus already defeated them. This is the power of the Gospel. Amen!
