“And after certain days king Agrippa and Bernice came unto Cæsarea to salute Festus.”
Acts 25:13 KJV
Several days later, King Agrippa and Bernice arrived at Caesarea for a visit with Festus. Bernice was a Jewess, a sister of king Agrippa and the older sister of Drusilla, wife of Felix. Festus had now succeeded Felix, and Paul had asked Festus to be tried at Caesar’s court in Rome. Festus had agreed to send Paul to Rome but in the meantime Paul had the opportunity to preach the glorious Gospel to Agrippa and Bernice. These were decadent rulers whom Paul did not condemn but rather gave the Gospel of grace in Christ. So Paul could preach the Gospel to kings and queens with as much fervour as with intellectuals at the Areopagus and the jailor in Philippi; the business person Lydia; and the cripple from birth at Lystra. To all strata of society, the Gospel is to be preached. The Holy Spirit brings conviction and repentance in the hearts of people when the Gospel is preached by believers in Christ. That’s why Jesus said “Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send Him unto you.” Let’s take the help of the Holy Spirit to preach the Gospel and to witness for our Lord Jesus Christ with power. Amen!
