“If his offering be a burnt sacrifice of the herd, let him offer a male without blemish: he shall offer it of his own voluntary will at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation before the LORD. And he shall put his hand upon the head of the burnt offering; and it shall be accepted for him to make atonement for him.”
Leviticus 1:3-4 KJV
Leviticus is generally ignored because we can’t relate to the many kinds of sacrifices elaborated here. But each of these are a shadow, our Lord Jesus is the substance of all these offerings, He is our all-sufficient offering. The burnt offering here was sheep, goat, dove or pigeon, killed at the door of the tabernacle. Now, with the precious Blood of Christ, as of a Lamb without blemish and without spot, we enter into His Presence. Now we are to walk in love, as Christ also has loved us, and has given Himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. Through faith, we are the burnt offering now to live for Christ and a sweet fragrance of Christ to God. People smell the fragrance of the knowledge of God everywhere we go to bless the world.
