“Then shalt thou kill the ram, and take of his blood, and put it upon the tip of the right ear of Aaron, and upon the tip of the right ear of his sons, and upon the thumb of their right hand, and upon the great toe of their right foot, and sprinkle the blood upon the altar round about.”
Exodus 29:20 KJV
This was an act of consecration of Aaron and his sons in the wilderness by Moses for the purity of the priest before God’s Presence as a mediator between the people and God. The fully consecrated must be pure in words and actions and in life; for words are judged by hearing (right ear), the hand (right thumb) is the symbol of action, and the foot (right toe) of the pilgrimage of life. For this cause Christ is the Mediator of the New Testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, we who are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. Christ the Sacrifice, Christ the Mediator, Christ our High Priest, Christ the Redeemer of mankind, Christ our Life. Amen!
