“And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubile unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family.”
Leviticus 25:10 KJV
Every seventh year was a Sabbath year, a year of liberty, rest, enjoyment, when debts were cancelled. After every seventh Sabbath, the fiftieth year was celebrated, a year of jubilee, inaugurated by a trumpet sound. That year, slaves were liberated, loans were cancelled, servants released, debts forgiven, lands returned to original owners, businesses started anew, just a time of the joy of reunion and restoration. Life in Christ is a perpetual life of jubilee, of freedom and liberty, of joy and celebration, an absolute new beginning. That’s why Jesus said at the start of His great work that “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, And recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord.” He proclaimed jubilee, new beginnings, restoration to us who believe. Simply believe and receive this glorious life in Christ. Amen!
