“And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God! It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.”
Mark 10:24-25 KJV
The difficulty Jesus speaks of is not because it is evil to be rich, but because the wealthy are quick to put their confidence in riches and not in God. The metaphor of the camel going through the eye of the needle is for something impossible to happen. To enter into God’s Kingdom realm means more than salvation, but a participation in its principles and an experience of its power to change our hearts. The principles of God’s Kingdom are not the principles of this world. Greed is conquered by generosity. Promotion is given to the humble. The power of God’s Kingdom is found in the Holy Spirit. To enter into God’s Kingdom based on worldly principles is the camel going through the eye of the needle, it can never happen. Righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit is the way to be in abundant life and we become like a little child to enjoy our Father’s Kingdom. Amen!
