“the woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation; and she besought him that he would cast forth the devil out of her daughter.”
Mark 7:26 KJV
She was not Jewish, but a foreigner, born in the part of Syria known as Phoenicia. She begged him repeatedly to cast the demon out of her daughter. She was not of the children of Israel. For her to seek out a Jewish healer to set free her demonised daughter was against the culture of her times. The racial divide of that day was quite pronounced, but love and faith overcome every barrier, including racial prejudice. The woman came into the true worship of God, leaving her false gods behind. Her daughter was set free because he or she whom Jesus the Son of God sets free is free indeed. We are here to show the hungry and lost people around us that Christ in us is the hope of glory. Hallelujah!
