“And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;”
Revelation 3:7 KJV
The resurrected Christ tells John for the church in Philadelphia, “Write the following to the messenger of the congregation in Philadelphia, for these are the solemn words of the Holy One, the True One, Who has David’s key, Who opens doors that none can shut and who closes doors that none can open”. The key of David unlocks intimacy and prayer. David was a man who lived in grace centuries before the Gospel of God’s grace was unveiled in the Lord Jesus Christ. In that sense the key of David allowed him to live in the future and in the grace it would reveal. This open door is an invitation to come into the fullness of the righteousness, peace and joy of the Holy Spirit, in the Kingdom of God. It is also an open door of opportunity to give witness to others of God’s power and grace. Let’s be those who are so conscious of the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ that the overflow of gratitude constantly comes forth from our lips. Amen!
