“Moreover the LORD said unto me, Take thee a great roll, and write in it with a man's pen concerning Mahershalalhashbaz. And I took unto me faithful witnesses to record, Uriah the priest, and Zechariah the son of Jeberechiah.”
Isaiah 8:1-2 KJV
The Lord Yahweh said to Isaiah, “Take a large tablet and engrave upon it these words using man’s stylus: Quickly, to the Plunder! Hurry, to the Loot! Then summon two reliable men, Uriah the priest and Zechariah, son of Jeberechiah, to act as witnesses.” God can use what is written by man to touch man. Weak, ordinary, frail man has the grace to write and speak for God. Isaiah named his soon to be born son, Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz, the longest name in the Bible. The prophetic act of writing on a tablet needed to be witnessed by men of stature so that when the fulfilment of the demise of the northern kingdom came to pass, it would be impossible to deny Isaiah’s prophetic message. It must have been publicised is a visible way for people passing by to wonder what it meant. This was a vivid way to make known the prophecy. Jesus was publicly crucified vividly, witnessed by Roman authorities and the high priest and the Jewish elders. So that 2000 years later this crucifixion is still celebrated! Thank You, Father, for the prophetic Word! Amen!
