“I am a brother to dragons, And a companion to owls. My skin is black upon me, And my bones are burned with heat. My harp also is turned to mourning, And my organ into the voice of them that weep.”
Job 30:29-31 KJV
“I howl with the jackals, I hoot with the owls. I’m black-and-blue all over, burning up with fever. My fiddle plays nothing but the blues; my mouth harp wails laments.” Job was in the throes of depression unable to stop speaking, as he compared the old days with his present circumstances. The psalmist echoed Job’s voice: “Come quickly, LORD, and answer me, for my depression deepens. Don't turn away from me, or I will die”. It was only when Christ came that He gave this wonderful invitation “Come to Me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” On the Cross, Christ took the whole world’s depression and exchanged it for His love. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen!
