“And Moses and the priests the Levites spake unto all Israel, saying, Take heed, and hearken, O Israel; this day thou art become the people of the LORD thy God.”
Deuteronomy 27:9 KJV
Then Moses and the Levitical priests addressed all Israel as follows: “O Israel, be quiet and listen! Today you have become the people of the Lord your God.” Here were a slave people and God chose them to become His people, keeping His covenant that He made with Abraham. Now, here is all humanity, slaves to sin and the god of this age. Yet God chose to shed the Blood of the Lamb of God through the new covenant where Jesus said, “This is My Blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many.” Therefore now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, in that He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises. That is why we bless the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.
