Our Passion for Jesus

“And as Paul was to be led into the castle, he said unto the chief captain, May I speak unto thee? Who said, Canst thou speak Greek?”

‭‭Acts‬ ‭21‬:‭37‬ ‭KJV‬‬

As Paul was being led to the entrance of the compound, he said to the commander in Greek, “May I have a word with you?” The commander replied, “So you know Greek, do you?”  Paul had known, for it had been prophesied to him, that he would be arrested in Jerusalem.  Still he chose to go.  The passion for Jesus, his Redeemer, got Paul so charged up that he gave his testimony in excellent Hebrew, to the Jews in the temple at Jerusalem.  Of course they couldn’t tolerate Jesus as the Messiah, and would have stoned him to death.  If it wasn’t for the Roman commander who who took him away, Paul would have been dead meat.  The Roman commander in charge of six hundred soldiers, was surprised that Paul spoke such fluent Greek, only for the highly educated.  The people living in Israel didn’t speak Greek at that time.  Paul, an educated Jew from Turkey, spoke to the commander in the common language of the Roman Empire.  As believers with a passion for the preaching of the Gospel, let every education, talent, skill, experience and attitude be used to glorify Christ in us.  This is the mystery of Christ in us the hope of glory.  Hallelujah!
