“And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. And all the men were about twelve.”
Acts 19:6-7 KJV
When Paul laid his hands on each of the twelve, the Holy Spirit manifested and they immediately spoke in tongues and prophesied. The impartation of the Holy Spirit and His gifts are here being transferred from Paul to these believers as he adjured them not to minimize the powerful gift of the Holy Spirit that operates in their life, for it was imparted to them by the laying on of hands of the elders and was activated through the prophecy they spoke over them. This laying on of hands in the Church encourages us to fan into a flame and rekindle the fire of the spiritual gift God imparts to us when spiritual leaders moving in the power of the Holy Spirit lay hands. This is what Jesus said to His disciples when He rose from the dead, “But I promise you this—the Holy Spirit will come upon you, and you will be seized with power. You will be My messengers to Jerusalem, throughout Judea, the distant provinces —even to the remotest places on earth!” This is how the Gospel goes in the power of the Holy Spirit to the ends of the earth. Jesus has not changed in the way the Gospel spreads in power. Let’s walk in the obedience of faith to spread the Gospel. Amen!
