“After these things Paul departed from Athens, and came to Corinth;”
Acts 18:1 KJV
When Paul left Athens he traveled to Corinth which is about seventy eight kilometres apart. Corinth was a large commercial centre with trade links all over the entire ancient world. It was the home of the famous Isthmian Games and the temple of Aphrodite, which held a thousand temple prostitutes. Corinth was known for its debauchery. Yet, it was in the midst of this depraved culture, God breathed a church to become light to the people of their city. Jesus touched the harlots, tax collectors and corrupt people, but instead of it influencing Him, their lives were changed. As Christ lives in us, let’s be the light of the world as Jesus called us to be. Instead of compromising with the worldly cultures and systems, let’s be the transforming change this world needs and dispel the darkness that is in the world, by sharing Christ, the True Light, with others. Amen!
