As John was revealed “He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent known as the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years.” Satan has been bound since the death and resurrection of Jesus. We now enforce the judgment that took place on Calvary. The thousand years is the obvious metaphor of the time in which we live for with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. We are given authority to “overpower the mighty man and tie him up” and plunder his goods. For Jesus has disarmed principalities and powers and He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. At the end the devil and his angels will be in the lake of fire forever and ever. Amen!
