Being Unleavened for Christ Our Passover

”But Absalom fled, and went to Talmai, the son of Ammihud, king of Geshur. And David mourned for his son every day. So Absalom fled, and went to Geshur, and was there three years. And the soul of king David longed to go forth unto Absalom: for he was comforted concerning Amnon, seeing he was dead.“

‭‭2 Samuel‬ ‭13‬:‭37‬-‭39‬ ‭KJV‬‬

When Absalom fled, he went to Talmai son of Ammihud, king of Geshur. He was there three years. The king finally gave up trying to get back at Absalom.  David was not able to raise his children with the values he learned and the relationship he had with God when he young.  Pride and disrespect led to Absalom’s tragic death when he rose against his own father.  In Jesus’s time, Herod under the Roman Empire ruled over Judæa and the Pharisees were the learned who taught the common people.  But Jesus said to his disciples first, “Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. Nothing is covered up that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known.”  Pride, disrespect and hypocrisy is like leaven and unacceptable to God.  In the new covenant, Paul taught, “Your glorying is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump? Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us”. Let’s be unleavened for Christ is our Sacrifice.  Amen!
