”then Toi sent Joram his son unto king David, to salute him, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer, and smitten him: for Hadadezer had wars with Toi. And Joram brought with him vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of brass: which also king David did dedicate unto the LORD, with the silver and gold that he had dedicated of all nations which he subdued;“
2 Samuel 8:10-11 KJV
So he sent his son Joram to King David to greet and congratulate him for fighting and defeating them, for Toi and Hadadezer were old enemies. He brought with him gifts of silver, gold, and bronze. King David consecrated these along with the silver and gold from all the nations he had conquered.. David’s heart for God was unparalleled in the old covenant. After Yahweh said He would build the house of David, David was overwhelmed. Yahweh helped him win wars against all his enemies. From all the spoil he collected, David brought it all and consecrated the gold and silver to God. David was generous and cheerful in his giving, not holding anything back because he understood the grace nature of God which was to be revealed through Jesus Christ. For we know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for our sakes He became poor, that we through His poverty might become rich. Let’s receive this grace. Amen!
