Enjoying the Newness of Life

“Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭9‬:‭17‬ ‭KJV‬

Matthew records Jesus’s teaching, “And who would pour fresh, new wine into an old wineskin? Eventually the wine will ferment and make the wineskin burst, losing everything—the wine is spilled and the wineskin ruined. Instead, new wine is always poured into a new wineskin so that both are preserved.”  Here Jesus taught of the new wine and the new cloth, that we cannot patch the old religious system with the new; nor contain old worn-out traditions in new wine skins.  The new that Jesus taught is exhilarating and powerful and must be poured into a heart made new.  The new and the old are not meant to be together.  Jesus makes all things new to form a twice-born company of people, and not to reform the old ways.  “Jesus said, “..unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the Kingdom of God.”  These were new things Jesus taught, and they can't be reconciled with old habits.  Therefore if anyone is in Christ, this person is a new creation; the old things passed away and new things have come.  Let’s break away from doing things in the old ways and let’s be led by the Holy Spirit, for He helps us to live in newness of life, enjoying every moment to the fullest!  Amen!
