Jesus Christ is Our Sufficiency

“Have mercy upon us, O LORD, have mercy upon us: For we are exceedingly filled with contempt. Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scorning of those that are at ease, And with the contempt of the proud.”

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭123‬:‭3‬-‭4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

This is one of the psalms that the priests sang as they ascended the fifteen steps leading worshippers into the entrance into the temple.       “For we’ve had more than our fill of this scoffing and scorn— this mistreatment by the wealthy elite. Lord, show us your mercy! Lord, show us your grace!”  How thankful we are that we have come to Jesus, Who arranged the new covenant, and to the sprinkled Blood that promises much better things than does the blood of Abel.  So we are well pleased with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, and with difficulties, for the sake of Christ; for when we are weak then we are strong, truly able, truly powerful, truly drawing from God’s strength.  Unfortunately the system of the world deems it essential that the focus is success through the love of money.  The Kingdom of God is the exact opposite, for when we’re weak, then we’re strong in the power of the Holy Spirit.  Because of the new covenant, in our weakness, the strength of our God is perfected.  This is a matter of scoffing and scorn to the worldly elite but those of us who have experienced the grace of God, we look to the resurrected Christ and Him alone for all that we need.  Christ is our sufficiency!  “He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall, But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.”  Amen!
