“The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.”
Matthew 1:1 KJV
Matthew, a disciple of Jesus Christ, wrote this book, which begins the New Testament. “This is the scroll of the genealogy of Jesus, the Anointed One, the son of David and descendant of Abraham.” The Son of God is eternal and has no beginning Who chose to come in the flesh and limit Himself to the earthly lifespan. This entire book of Matthew presents the beginning of the glorious story of Jesus, God’s Anointed One. The genealogy here presents the legal claim of Jesus to be King through the lineage of David from Joseph all the way back to the promises given to Abraham. The Hebrew name for Jesus is Yeshua and means “Yahweh is Salvation” - Jesus being the Greek translation of Yeshua. As the prophet had said, “Salvation comes from the LORD”. There is no one else who has the power to save us, for there is only One Name to Whom God has given authority by which we must experience salvation: the Name of Jesus. Amen!
