“In my distress I cried unto the LORD, and he heard me. Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips, And from a deceitful tongue.”
Psalm 120:1-2 KJV
This is the first of fifteen psalms that the priests sang as they ascended the fifteen steps leading worshippers into the entrance into the temple. “I was desperate for you to help me in my struggles, and you did! So come and deliver me now from this treachery and false accusation.” We may be assured that God hears every distress and desperate cry made to Him. The only time He didn’t was when at about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” that is, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” There were so many lying lips and deceitful tongues that accused Him and even betrayed Him. He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, And as a sheep before its shearers is silent, So He opened not His mouth. Jesus took the place of all humanity so that each of us would be reconciled to God and be heard personally by Him and He would answer us. God hears all those who believe in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus on our behalf. For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, Who gave Himself a ransom for all who believe. Thank You, Jesus!
