“and he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene.”
Matthew 2:23 KJV
As Matthew testified of the Messiah, confirming the prophecies of old. “So He settled His family in the village of Nazareth, fulfilling the prophecy that He would be known as the “Branch.”” The prophecy of Jeremiah among others, ““Listen to me! I, the Lord, promise you that a time is coming when I will raise up a righteous Branch, who will sprout from David’s lineage. He will rule as their King, and his reign will prosper with wisdom and understanding. He will succeed in bringing justice and righteousness to all.” The Branch of the Lord is symbolic of being from the Tree of Life, and the seven branches of the Lampstand, Jesus is the Scion, Heir of a powerful family, the Victorious One, a Branch that can be transplanted and grafted into a human life. Jesus was raised in the village of the Branch (Nazareth). Jesus is called the “Victorious Branch of Nazareth”. Jesus is also the Vine, calling us His branches. Those who are in Christ, connected to Him, are the fruitful branches of the Vine. Amen!
