“For the rod of the wicked shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous; Lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity. Do good, O LORD, Unto those that be good, and to them that are upright in their hearts.”
Psalm 125:3-4 KJV.
This is one of the psalms that the priests sang as they ascended the fifteen steps leading worshippers into the entrance into the temple. “The wicked will not always rule over the godly, provoking them to do what is evil. God, let your goodness be given away to your good people, to all your righteous ones!” In the new covenant, the righteous are those whose sins have been forgiven by the Blood sacrifice of Jesus. For God made Jesus His Son, Who knew no sin, to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. Indeed, without the shedding of Christ’s Blood there is no forgiveness of sins and therefore no righteousness. We need the protection from evil and it comes only through the Blood of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. For if by the one man’s (Adam’s) offence death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ. Amen!
