God’s Word brings Life and Preservation

“Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity; And quicken thou me in thy way. Stablish thy word Unto thy servant, who is devoted to thy fear. Turn away my reproach which I fear: For thy judgments are good.”

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭119‬:‭37‬-‭39‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The acrostic poetic style of this psalm is unique to David.  “Help me turn my eyes away from illusions so that I pursue only that which is true; drench my soul with life as I walk in your paths. Reassure me of your promises, for I am your beloved, your servant who bows before you. Defend me from the criticism I face for keeping your beautiful words.”  The Lord not only gives life through His word but He preserves our life according to His word.  Jesus said that the words that He speaks to us are spirit and life. Because He loves us personally and deeply, His word is His promise to us to reassure us.  When we choose to keep His word, He protects us from every criticism and accusation.  For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.  Let the word of God be foundational in our thought life, in our speech, in our deeds and in our intercession.  Amen!
