“Who are they among all the gods of the countries, that have delivered their country out of mine hand, that the LORD should deliver Jerusalem out of mine hand?”
2 Kings 18:35 KJV
Rabshakeh, one of the messengers of Sennacherib, the king of Assyria, spoke on behalf of the Assyrian king to Hezekiah and the Jews as the Assyrian army surrounded Jerusalem, mocking God, “Can you name a god who saved anyone anywhere from me, the king of Assyria? So what makes you think that God can save Jerusalem from me?” As Hezekiah trusted and worshipped God, the Assyrian king had to retreat from Jerusalem because enemies were attacking his own country. When he returned home, one of his own sons, killed him. Do not be deceived, God is not mocked. Today, Christ is mocked for being weak, helpless and still nailed to the Cross. We know that Christ has destroyed sin and death through the finished work of the Cross and is resurrected and seated at the right hand of the Father in glory, with all principalities and powers under His feet. All mankind will have to give an account of our life to the One Who is destined to judge the living and the dead. May we live our life to glorify Jesus Christ, mankind’s Saviour. Amen!
