“And Hezekiah hearkened unto them, and shewed them all the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah shewed them not.”
2 Kings 20:13 KJV
Hezekiah was pleased and showed the messengers of Merodach-Baladan, the son of Baladan king of Babylon, around the place giving a guided tour of all his prized possessions. There wasn’t a thing in his palace or kingdom that Hezekiah didn’t show them. Babylon hadn’t yet become the powerful kingdom it became later, but Hezekiah, with pride showed off everything he had. Inspite of God’s favour, people become proud and careless. Jesus showed that humility brings continuous grace to lead a consecrated and holy life. Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, Who, being in the form of God, became Man, humbled Himself becoming obedient to the death of the Cross. So God highly exalted Him and gave Him the Name which is above every name, that at the Name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven, on earth, and under the earth, and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, for God the Father’s glory. Humility brings favour with God. Amen!
