“And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.”
Revelation 21:23 KJV
The city has no need for the sun or moon to shine, for the glory of God is its light, and its lamp is the Lamb. The New Jerusalem had no need of the sun, nor of the moon, that they might shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it; the Lamb is its lamp. Isaiah had prophesied this hundreds of years before, “The sun shall no longer be your light by day, Nor for brightness shall the moon give light to you; But the Lord will be to you an everlasting light, And your God your glory. Your sun shall no longer go down, Nor shall your moon withdraw itself; For the Lord will be your everlasting light, And the days of your mourning shall be ended.” God is Light and in Him there is no darkness at all, that’s what Jesus said. Today, in the new covenant, let’s be conscious of His light in us and through us, dispelling the darkness around us. As the Church which will transition into the New Jerusalem, let’s be those that dispel darkness. Amen!
