“And it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold, they spied a band of men; and they cast the man into the sepulchre of Elisha: and when the man was let down, and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood up on his feet.”
2 Kings 13:21 KJV
One day, some men were burying a man and spotted the raiders. They threw the man into Elisha’s tomb and got away. When the body touched Elisha’s bones, the man came alive, stood up, and walked out on his own two feet. The double portion on Elisha was so strong that even after Elisha’s death, a dead man came alive just by making contact with Elisha’s bones. The Greater One has now come - Jesus the Anointed One. Because He was raised from the dead, the anointing from the Anointed One, the Messiah has been brought to us by the Spirit of God. Jesus has anointed us for the greater works He wants the Church to do. In the new covenant we live our life empowered by God’s free-flowing grace, which is our true strength, found in the anointing of Jesus and our union with Him. Raising the dead is a part of the anointing the Lord Jesus Christ has given us by the leading and power of the Holy Spirit. Let the Church be the powerhouse God wants us to be, to fulfill His purpose. Amen!
