“And thou shalt give the Levites unto Aaron and to his sons: they are wholly given unto him out of the children of Israel. And thou shalt appoint Aaron and his sons, and they shall wait on their priest's office: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.”
Numbers 3:9-10 KJV
God, in His sovereign wisdom, has through this levitical order in the priests, which is a shadow of the things to come, shown the substance in the different kinds of ministries in the Church, which is the Body of Christ. God called Aaron and his sons to serve Him and they were placed closest to God’s tabernacle eastwards. Behind them was Judah’s tribe. Priestly ministry is done in God’s Presence in the midst of praise (Judah). Only Aaron and his sons were responsible for different aspects of the sanctuary in the tabernacle. Under the New Covenant, all believers are priests and God appoints some to be apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers. Because they stay close to the Lord, they build up the Body of Christ, equipping them for God’s work. They are called especially for prayer and the ministry of the Word. Then, the ministries of helps, encouragement, generous giving, administration, mercy works. Whatever is God’s calling on your life, stick to it, don’t step out of it. Each one has a function to fulfill God’s purpose for our life. Let’s do it! Amen!
