“No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.”
Luke 16:13 KJV
Jesus explained through this parable that it is impossible for a person to serve two masters at the same time. You will be forced to love one and reject the other. One master will be despised and the other will have your loyal devotion. Your choice between God and the wealth of this world is no different. You must enthusiastically love one and definitively reject the other. In many cultures today, money or mammon is personified and deified as a god or a goddess and worshipped. We make a choice in this life only on who or what we worship. Christ made it absolutely clear that we cannot serve God and money at the same time, it’s impossible. Let the Church and all those who worship God in spirit and in truth, stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around us, but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how we think. This empowers us to discern God’s will as we live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in His eyes. Amen!
